Musical Parent Participation

Mark your calendars for April 5, 6, 12 and 13!

The spring’s production of Legally Blonde is a huge production involving over 100 students, so we will need parent help to make it run smoothly and to make it extra special. Most of these activities simply would not happen without your contributions, but they all help to make the show all it can be. We appreciate your help however you can give it! Unlike many of the sports here at Hampton, we do not have a parent booster club for funding or excessive fees or expenses for students to participate. We do, however, ask that every family volunteer in at least one of the areas below.

If you have any questions about volunteering, please direct them to Andrew Halter at halter@ht-sd.org.

Thank you!

Parent Participation Spreadsheet-

If you have not already done so, please add your name and contact info to one of the volunteer areas on this spreadsheet.

Concession Stand and Backstage Donations:

We ask that every family make a food or drink donation to our concession stand and for our cast and crew backstage snacks. You will receive more information about this from your concessions coordinator once one is appointed. This will be at the discretion of the coordinator...sometimes a cash donation is suggested instead, and committee members assign parents to buy food.

In addition, we ask for your time in any of the following areas.

  • Costumes: Our costumer and student costumers assemble and tailor all of our costumes, so we need plenty of help in this area. This task involves fitting students, sewing, distributing and collecting costumes, etc. Sewing ability is a plus, but not required! We will be announcing costume workshops to be held in upcoming evenings and afternoons. Please feel free to attend if you can.
  • Concessions/Balloon and Flower and/or candygram : We will need parent volunteers to coordinate and pick up flower and balloon orders, sell items during intermissions, and set up and break down concession stands.
  • Backstage Parents: We will need a handful of volunteers to be backstage during the performances to help with costumes, makeup and other minor troubleshooting.
  • Promotions: We need help with making and distributing posters, contacting businesses with marquis, and road signs and lobby decorations to advertise our show. This will take place closer to the production date.
  • Marthon Nights: The Monday and Tuesday during show week are traditional "marathon night" rehearsals where we require students to be here for 7 hours after school. We need a crew of volunteers to help organize dinner for our cast, crew and directors.

Leadership positions

  • Parent Liason- this person would be our "head" parent who would be the go-to person for coordinating all of the parents involved in the areas above.
  • Committe Chairs- Each of the above committees needs a parent to help coordinate and organize volunteers.
